Weekend Warriors: Best Bets for October 4th and 5th.

What a bounce back! After a rough 1-5 week, we were able to right the ship with a 4-2 weekend. We continue to struggle in NASCAR as our 2 losses were on the track. Alex Bowman was run into the wall late in the race while running just outside of the top 10, ending any chance we had with our best bet. Ross Chastain, on the other hand, just missed the cash as he finished P11. Unfortunately NASCAR falls to 0-6 and we are desperate to get a win in that column, I expect we do this weekend. Football, on the other hand, was great as we went 4-0, cashing 4 underdog bets as we didn't need the points in any game as all 4 dogs won outright. I called both outright wins in our best bets and was not surprised at all to see both honorable mention plays win outright as well. Our 4-2 weekend moves our overall record to 8-10, with NFL leading the way at 5-1, CFB gets back to even at 3-3 and we will look to bounce back in NASCAR.

FSU +4.5 (-110)

We are headed to Tallahassee for our best bet for College Football week 5 and boy do I love this bet. Wrong team favored as we are getting 4.5 points with the Seminoles as the home dog. This line is wrong, point blank. Florida State is off of a tough Friday Night loss as they lost to Virginia in OT. I liked UVA in that spot as Florida State was in a massive look ahead spot towards this matchup with Miami and I was not at all surprised that the Seminoles lost that game. Due to that loss, we are getting massive line value on FSU. I believe Florida State is the better team in this matchup as I think Miami is the most overrated team in the country. Sure they have a nice win over Notre Dame in week 1, but I believe ND would've won that game if it wasn't played in week 1. After that win, Miami's most impressive win was a 26-7 win against Florida, but don't let the final score fool you, it was 13-7 with 4 minutes left in that game and Florida gave the Canes short fields to add on the insurance. I do not feel that Miami should be a top 5 or even a top 10 team in college football. They now hit the road for the first time this season and get a pissed off Seminoles team off the loss. The Hurricanes are also off of a bye with another bye on deck, a spot that I am not overly fond of. I fully expect FSU to look like the better team in this matchup and I think they get the outright win. I'm calling for Florida State to win this game in a 30-20 type of game. Take the points with FSU.

NO ML (-120)

Once again, plug your nose for our NFL best bet as we are taking the New Orleans Saints on the moneyline against the Giants. That's right, after calling the Giants outright upset win against the Chargers last week, we are now fading them against what is one of the worst teams in the NFL. This spot for the Giants is awful, point blank. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart is off of his first NFL win in his first career start, an accomplishment worth celebrating. We loved backing Dart in his first NFL start but are not as excited about his second career start. I expected the Giants to get up for the game with the Chargers as Dart brought a new energy to that team, but that energy only shows through in the first game. I don't expect the same type of intensity in this one. Dart now has to travel and make his first NFL road start against a hungry Saints team who has played tough so far this season. Not only that but look who's on deck... it's the defending Super Bowl Champion and divisional rival Eagles. And when do they play? That's right, Thursday Night Football. This spot here for the Giants is as bad as it gets and the line reflects that. How are the Saints favored?! Who is going to back the Saints?! That's the exact time when I want to jump in and back a team. As I mentioned, the Saints have played really tough in 3 of their 4 losses. The game they weren't competitive in was week 3 against the Seahawks. That game, however, was flukey as the Seahawks got massive plays from their special teams early and the game was basically over before it started. The Saints could've had a win last weekend against the undefeated Bills and also played closely in week's 1 and 2. I expect another big effort from New Orleans and I think it results in a win this time. Lay the short price with the Saints on the ML as I expect them to win this one 24-16.

S. Van Gisbergen Outright (+120)

NASCAR heads to the Charlotte Roval this weekend for the Bank of America 400 and I am backing the road course ringer to get his 5th road course win of the season. SVG has wins in Mexico, Chicago, Sonoma, and Watkins Glen this year where he absolutely dominated the field. He is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition when it comes to road course racing and I don't expect anything to change at the Roval on Sunday. Quite frankly I am shocked to get a + price on SVG and I think locking this in at any + number is a good bet. Van Gisbergen finished 7th here last season but was in worse equipment with a worse pit crew. He was still up and coming last season but that can't be said this year. He was one of just 3 drivers to amass 4+ victories this season and I think he easily finds his 5th victory at the Roval on Sunday. At + money I cannot pass this up.

Honorable Mention: C. Briscoe Top 10 -110
