Fantasy Stock Market: Week 3

The waiver wire is a blast every week but nothing feels the same as pulling off a trade! Finding the right compensation can be tough and coming to an agreement is even harder. While we would all love to trade for JCM, these articles are based around players that with the right compensation, are attainable.

Week 2 is about to be in the rearview and as a result there are always a lot of overreactions. From the sky is falling on proven studs to thinking the next Randy Moss or Maurice Jones-Drew has been discovered, there are a lot of ways a savvy manager can take advantage of the fog of war and put themselves right in there for contention. Let's check out our stocks this week.

BUY

Brian Thomas JR, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

As a BTJ bag holder I was getting pretty nervous this week. That quickly started to change when I was seeing just how many people across social media were all parroting the same thing. It starts to get ridiculous when people come up with conspiracy after conspiracy and just hilarious honestly. From he's grieving the loss of Kyren Lacy to the Jags are making fun of him on their own socials because apparently he's scared of contact now. The wrist injury, the controversy over "Hospital Ball Gate" etc. etc. this makes BTJ a prime buy low especially in dynasty. He's played 86 and 94% of the snaps. He's went from 7 targets to 12. His yards have went from 11 to 49, his YPT from 1.57 to 4.08, His YPC from 11 to 12.25 and everything is heading in the right direction.

I believe Lawrence is at best generationally average at this point but he's good enough to continue building chemistry with BTJ. Keep in mind the offense is still just two games into the season with a new coordinator and coach. I think better days are ahead and the stats seem to support this. Hold the line.

Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets

Breece faced a decent Bills defense that bottled up the run resulting in a disappointing 4 points in week 2. Perfect chance to buy low as he is far and away the lead back of that field. 58 and 64% snap shares, an elite 5.63 YPC for 107 yards in week 1 against the Steelers and heavy utilization as a receiver bodes well for a Breece bounce back. I'm not as worried about Fields taking rushing away from him like some people and with Tyrod Taylor taking the start they could lean more heavily on the run. The team is dysfunctional but a lot of people are playing scared on Breece and if you need an RB he's there. I think this is a great week to secure a top 12 finish for Breece while he is dirt cheap.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

With the emergence of QJ many are panicking on the Laddster. Take advantage as this is still in my opinion the best receiver on the team by far with Keenan Allen's age and injury history. Ladd has been in on 85 and 74% of the snaps going for 74 and 48 yards. His YPT has been 8.22 to 9.6 and his YPC has been 12.33 to 9.6. Good numbers indicating healthy use and offensive focus on him. Add in a few more targets since he's between 5-9 a game right now and the occasional Tuddy we are in business.

The Chargers look to be slangin that thang more than we thought and Herbert might finally be back in top 12 QB discussion. Madison Beer got that boy acting strange. The high passing volume from a QB who's been there and done that before but struggled recently is a great sign as Herbert seems locked in this season and so far healthy. As long as these trends continue, Ladd will see more targets and opportunities his way.

SELL

Tyrone Tracy, RB, New York Giants

This is a tough sell as he put up 7 points in week 2 but you need to be aggressively shopping Tracy to a Giants fan or anyone who still believes he is the lead back. He dramatically dropped in snaps from 74 to 42% and decreased from 10 to 5 rushing attempts. He picked up 15 yards at a 3 yard rushing rate. His receiving targets have held steady at 5 in both games. He managed 36 receiving yards at 7.2 YPT and 9 YPC. Skattebo is an underrated receiver in his own right and has that ability also while siphoning the rushing yards from Tracy. Skattebo is constantly counted out and I think his role will continue to expand in this offense as he gets used to the NFL. He shot up from 12% snap share in week 1 to 52% share and made the most with 11 rushing attempts for 45 yards at 4.09 average and 1 touchdown. 3 receiving targets almost tied with Tracy but he only picked up 14 yards off that at 4.67 YPT and 7 YPC.

Skatt is also the perfect locker room presence you want in a rebuilding team that's still going to get kicked in the nads a lot. His over the top emotion and positive presence are a coach's wet dream. Plus with Nabers present the boxes won't be stacked and teams can't sell out to stop the run or vice versa trying to stop the aerial attack because they are screwed no matter what.

Mac Jones, QB, San Francisco 49ers

Unless you're the Purdy owner there's no reason to keep Jones. This could be a good opportunity to approach a team decimated already by poor QB play or injuries and offload Jones. He's not going to play a whole season in San Francisco. The dreaded turf toe for Purdy isn't reported as being anywhere close in severity to Burrow so there's currently optimism this is maybe a 4 game absence if that at most. I'd be calling up the Burrow owner or Jayden Daniels owner this week seeing what could get done. You don't have to get crazy but a lot of people out there are surprisingly still Jones believers and what he did last year in Jacksonville has solidified that. Take advantage of that and make it seem like this is finally the right environment for Jones to do something like Justin Fields in New York and get a little something something for Jonesy.

Jalen Coker, WR, Carolina Panthers

This one might have you surprised as he's currently on IR but there are a lot of disgusting coke heads out there you need to start building anticipation with. We are looking at about 4 games left before Coker could come back from IR and with Legette looking like a massive bust unfortunately and the success of Renfrow in the position Coker is supposed to be in, people are starting to salivate over Coker. Especially in dynasty, use this to your advantage. Find a contender that can wait and gas this dude up and talk about how bad Legette has been. Let them know every week that passes we get closer to this guy coming back and the fantasy playoffs. This could be your secret weapon wink wink, then rob them blind. I personally have him stashed on IR just for that purpose and I'm fortunate now to have too many WRS that I can't play so he's perfect trade bait or a nice sweetener to any existing deal to get it pushed through.
