Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds: Week 5

Week 5 Waiver Wire

It's only week 5 but the waiver is screaming out in agony from hardcore milking. I'm also starting to think some of you aren't playing in leagues as "hardcore" as you think they are. There are a lot of repeats on this week's segment but in any case, let's go back to 2nd grade, shall we?

Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Alright, I admit I was wrong about Gainwell. I've been writing about the guy almost every week and with Warren injured he's delivered. If he's still on waivers he's self-explanatory. I didn't think he'd see the volume and consistency to produce but the Steelers look better than I thought they would. They are also a run heavy team and Johnson is unimpressive thus far. Warren is still the guy to own but Gainwell is a fine flex and bye week player. Be aware the Steelers are on bye this week themselves however, so have a plan to not use ole Kenneth for about a week.

Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans

If you read last week's buy, sell, and trade fantasy article I wrote first of all thank you. Secondly, you would have already either claimed this guy on waivers or bought him for absolute dirt cheap. As I mentioned last week, Marks has been climbing in snap share every week culminating in more opportunity that resulted in a 56% snap share that turned into 25 points in half ppr at a crazy 4.06 YPC rushing for 69 (nice) total yards and a tuddy. Also impressive was his receiving acumen that resulted in 50 air yards at a 10 YPT with 12.5 YPC and a receiving tuddy. That's exactly what you want from your RB, healthy involvement both rushing and passing. The Texans team are absolutely abysmal but Woody Marks looks like the one bright spot. Chubb is no competition at this stage as I mentioned and both Mixon and Pierce are prime examples of the Mandela Effect in action. They never even existed; it's all been a dream.

Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints

Injury and Dennis Allen threatened to end Miller's career before it even started. Thankfully they both went poof in the wind thus far. For the past three weeks his snaps have increased from 15 to 27 and finally 31% this past week. Nothing crazy but his points have increased each week as a result too. This is exactly what we were seeing from Marks before his explosion so this is trending in a great direction for Miller. He's only 23 and backing up an often injured and continuingly declining Kamara. His 5.91 YPC rushing against a decent Bills defense is promising. My biggest wish is that he get more involved in the receiving as well. In any case, Miller looks primed as long as he's healthy to potentially have that breakout a lot of us know he's capable of.
